Parent Education and Early Learning Support

Hummingbird Learning supports parents of children under the age of 5 in building confidence, creating enriching home environments, and understanding how young children learn through play.

Kim Ballantyne is the founder of Hummingbird Learning. She is a certified teacher in the State of New Hampshire with a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education.

Kim has completed LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training, an in-depth, two-year program grounded in the science of reading. This means her approach to phonics, decoding, and early literacy is backed by current research on how young children actually learn to read.

Kim designs Hummingbird Learning’s tutoring sessions using UFLI Foundations, a structured, evidence-based phonics curriculum developed by the University of Florida Literacy Institute. UFLI provides a clear, systematic sequence for teaching phonics skills, which helps children build reading confidence step by step.

Whether your child is just starting to sound out letters, working on reading fluency, or in need of a confidence boost to catch up to grade level, Hummingbird Learning is prepared to create a personalized plan to help your child grow.
